The Chaos triplet... Wait, triplet?
In HeroQuest, I was really only able to turn 3 of the official quests into what would feel like Chaos quests, so I picked what felt right for them as well and it ended up being Slaanesh, Tzeentch and Khorne (I did however brings Nurgle in as a faction in the modified Wizards of Morcar expansion). I decided this time to do something similar, but this time include Nurgle instead of Khorne (But the blood god WILL return in the far future, too!).
1. Cultists
Now... Since I decided to use no models from anything beyond 1998, it was a real challenge to find anything of a decent fit for the cultists, but these Dragon Fire board game miniatures were the best I could muster. I'll add some spikes and modify the weapon set to make them feel much more 40k (Probably a smaller shank and a bolter pistol).
2. Cultist Squad Leader
Again, really tough to find anything useful. I decided to use this Blood Berets chaos looking fella. I'll mod in a Chainsword and most likely scan and resize to fit with his merry band of baldies.
3. Chaos Space Marine
These guys are in the base game and fit in great.
4. Chaos Space Marine Squad Leader
Also in the base game and a fine looking old school plastic.
5. Mission 3 Nurgle Specialist Unit (Plague Marine)
The first plastic Plague Marines. I used to have some of these when I was a kid (Along with Space Crusade, Blood Bowl, Necromunda, Khorne plastics, Heroquest pieces, 40k 2nd edition starter set, Siege Tower, Warhammer Fortress, plastic Beastmen and a random mix of metal stuff -fantasy and 40k- purchased at charity shops or car boots! ...Those were the days!)
6. Mission 3 Nurgle Commander
Not sure I'd paint this guy quite like this, but I'll see.
7. Mission 6 Tzeentch Specialist Unit
These are the first plastic Thousand Sons models and look awesome!
8. Mission 6 Tzeentch Commander
I'll probably make this guy look a little less like a Hero unit somehow...
9. Mission 9 Slaanesh Specialist Unit
The Noise Marine! He'll cause some sort of concussive effect that can possibly lock your units from moving. Fitting for Slaanesh, the armour is certainly excessively detailed...
10. Mission 9 Slaanesh Commander
Finally, the last enemy to defeat of the whole game. He'll turn up with a full squad of his Nosie Marines.
Well, that's all folks. I'll work on the (Very basic) story and the solo rule set, as well as blending in the new units into the versus game soon. I'm still finishing off the minor details on my more lore friendly/coherent HeroQuest right now and trying to find the best place to 3D print the old school unique models I have STLs for for it. If you know of a place (With filled of "walled", good quality prints) then please drop a comment. I'll also need to remake the Monster Cards and adjust some of the other cards, but the bulk of the work on HeroQuest IS done. I'll soon post the completed project and then return to this!
